Shots Fired At Garden State Plaza Mall In New Jersey

PARAMUS N.J. (CBSNewYork) — Police responded in force Monday evening after shots were fired inside the Westfield Garden State Plaza Mall.

The shots were reported sometime before the mall in Paramus, N.J. closed for the night at 9:30 p.m.

PARAMUS, New Jersey (PIX11) – Stores are on lockdown at the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, New Jersey, after at least one gunman opened fire Monday night.

According to a police source, the shooting began near the Nordstrom’s department store on the second level of the mall.  At least eight shots have been fired; the gunman is believed to be wearing body armor.

Police and SWAT teams from surrounding areas, along with state police, are en route to the scene.  Many of the stores inside the mall are on lockdown.

There have not been any reports of injuries.  The mall is now being evacuated.
