UH Downtown campus to consider gender-neutral restrooms

HOUSTON – The student body at the University of Houston Downtown campus will consider whether to convert campus restrooms to become gender neutral.
The student body president said it would benefit transgender or non-conforming students. The resolution calls for new signs on restrooms. The student government will consider the issue Jan. 10.
Three years ago, Houston Mayor Annise Parker came under fire for signing an executive order allowing transgendered individuals the right to use restrooms for the gender in which they identify.
